Once you create magic from all the colors and shades, now what’s next? Think, think, think!

Framing, it is! If you won’t frame it, then how will you hang it on the wall? Besides, the paper can crease and get dull with time. Makes sense? Now let’s get started.

In this blog, we are going to show you how to set up a frame for paint by numbers.

Before getting into details, the first thing you need to do is to get the frame’s stretchers the same size as your painting canvas.

Where can You get the right-sized Stretcher?

You don’t have to worry. We have got you covered here as well. We are awesome, right? So are you. 😊

We offer soft wooden stretcher bars that can easily be assembled and joined by sliding one into the other tightly so that they fit into each other and don’t fall off. Our perfectly designed stretcher bars do not need any nails, staplers, or hammer, you can easily press a thumbtack to fix your canvas on them.

From our collection, you can find stretchers for the frame in 3 different sizes, i.e., 12 x 16 in, 16 x 16 in, and 16 x 20 in. You can choose whatever size your canvas is. Simply follow our below-mentioned steps and build a frame for your masterpiece. No rocket science!

Seems like I am missing something! Oh yeah, I have a secret to tell you.

No, wait! I guess I shall not reveal it until the end. We will see 😉

Set of Wooden Stretchers for Paint by Numbers canvas

How to Set up a Frame for Paint by Numbers?

If you’re a newbie, here are a few highlights of this whole process that can help you understand it well.

  • Assembling the stretchers
  • Folding the canvas along the sides of the canvas
  • Thumbtacking

Step 1:

Once you receive your Set of Wooden Stretchers for Paint by Numbers Canvas from us, you need to open it. Now, lay out the bars on a flat, dry, and clean surface. Let the thumbtacks rest in the packet while you are taking care of the stretcher bars first.

 Step 2:

If all the bars are of the same size, then of course it is going to be simpler. But if you have two short bars and two long bars in the set, then you need to attach them in a way that the same sized bars are parallel to each other just like a rectangle. Make sure you have attached the smoother surfaces of the stretcher bars on the same side and the all rough ones on the opposite.

There are protruded and sharpened edges at both the corners of the bars. And they also have grooves to fit those edges in. They’re machined so precisely that they fit perfectly fine and don’t need any adhesive to assist. Simply attach one bar to the other at a perpendicular angle of 90, and push the edges to the grooves firmly. Now, you get a wooden frame for your painting.

Step 3:

Unroll your canvas if you haven’t opened it yet. If you have attached it to some board while painting, it’s time to detach and bring it to the work table.

As we mentioned earlier, canvases can crease with time. That’s where you can use the “ironing method”. Turn on the steam iron, place your canvas on a flat table with a table cloth on it and turn the black surface of the canvas face up. Now, iron the surface of the canvas especially the edges so they can easily fold around the frame. There you go with a wrinkle-less canvas in your hand.

Step 4:

Stretch out the canvas, and start folding each side along the respective sized frame and make sure they’re perfectly aligned in a straight equal line. Fix and attach each side of the canvas on the respective side of the frame tightly with a thumb pin/thumbtack. You can also use thumbtacks at both corners of all the bars as well to ensure maximum fixation.

During this whole process, you need to continuously make sure that there are no wrinkles on the canvas and it isn’t loose in the middle. Use more thumbtacks if you feel like doing so.

Step 5:

Here you are, holding a perfect DIY frame with your beautiful painting on it.

Hang it on your bedroom wall, keep it in your study, or just enjoy watching in your living room.

You’re all set to launch your custom paint by numbers canvas in a perfect frame!
